Yale-Lowell lineups

(Sorry, BST folks. A few bits for yinz at the bottom.)

It’s a college week ’round here. Yale and UMass Lowell coming up. I didn’t get a chance to ask Sean Backman about his Bulldogs, but I did get Scott Campbell about his River Hawks, whom he’s been following. “(Norm) Bazin, every coach there has done a great job with the program.” Only two years out (he was a captain in 2010-11), Campbell played with a bunch of Lowell’s players. “They’ve been through thick and thin,” he said. “From the losses — five wins, I think it was, the season before — and then the Final 8 last year, and now the Frozen Four this year.”

I asked if there were any, y’know, friendly wagers going on. “I’ve been asked the past couple of rounds,” he said, facing Jason Clark’s Wisconsin team, Eric Boguniecki’s New Hampshire team. He said he’s preferred “quiet confidence.”

That gets its next test today. Lineups as reported by the teams:

There are, as promised, a couple of Sound Tigers bits. Brandon DeFazio was named the Sound Tigers’ Man of the Year today; each team names one, a nominee for the AHL’s Yanick Dupre Award. Hugh Jessiman was also nominated, along with former Sound Tigers Jay Leach and Barry Goers. One note from late last night: Brenden Kichton’s Spokane team was eliminated from the WHL playoffs. No idea if he might come here, but it is, at least in theory, now possible. That leaves Griffin Reinhart and Mitchell Theoret still playing, both on to the third round (in different leagues).

Meanwhile, did some math this morning (mostly adding ones to numbers that were already in spreadsheets, but still), as tweeted: The Sound Tigers could conceivably be in eighth place with two wins and a lot of help by the end of Tuesday’s game. They could, though, with a loss tomorrow and no help elsewhere, be eliminated by the end of the day Sunday.

*-Not the actual reason.
