Robber Barons

Oklahoma City trailed by two goals with less than 11 minutes to play in Game 6 on Tuesday. Goodnight, Irene, etc. Except the Barons came back and stole the game. Mark Arcobello scored his second goal (12th of the playoffs) with 10:19 to go. Yann Danis stopped a Tomas Jurco penalty shot with 8:38 to go. Toni Rajala tied it with 2:27 left. Anton Lander’s deflection won it with 1:05 to play. And holy cro, there’s a Game 7 Wednesday night in Grand Rapids.

The NHL competition committee recommended grandfathering in a visor requirement, as well as looking at hybrid icing, with tests in the preseason. (Was interested to see that AHL linesman Paul Carnathan said on Twitter that “hybrid icing is extremely difficult for us to call,” among other things. I thought they did a pretty good job with it down here, all in all.) Disappointed that they’d toss the “attainable pass” rule. I always liked that.

Rather like the new Carolina uniform (though, even with the clean and simple design, thought the lettering/numbers on the back could be just a little bolder). Saw the new Dallas logo first on Twitter, silver against a white background, and thought “blah.” But put it on green… Not bad.

And RIP, Deacon Jones.
