AHL offseason Day 1 wrap

|

(On the bright side, it’s June 20 now, so 106.)

After David Ullstrom bolted today, the Islanders announced a July 11 scrimmage at the Coliseum for the remaining prospects as part of their summer conditioning camp. Arthur Staple reported it won’t include Nino Niederreiter, who isn’t required to come over.

Victor Bartley, star on the rise, got a three-year, $2 million, one-way deal from Nashville.

Forgot to mention the other day, if you didn’t see it since: Sweden’s top league, Elitserien, is now the SHL, an abbreviation actually works both in Swedish and in English.

And RIP, Slim Whitman, Dave Jennings and James Gandolfini.

  1. Possible but TBD. Saw a report that said Utica could actually stay in the West. You could also completely rework the format.

  2. Jeff says:

    Mike,

With Utica now in, will there be a reshuffling of divisions?
