Newsday: DiPietro being bought out

Arthur reports tonight that the era ends shortly: The Islanders will use a compliance buyout on Rick DiPietro, the inaugural Sound Tiger, the man whose 15-year, $67.5 million contract and injuries sadly overshadowed the all-star goalie he had been. The procedure begins with waivers on Tuesday.

    Too bas this story didn’t have a better ending, but this had to be done so that the organization can turn the page and move forward.
