Riley departs/back to work

Edit: CapGeek posted a new contract for Brett Gallant early Wednesday. Apparently not registered yet, but still.

St. John’s finally announced its AHL deal with Blair Riley; soon after he said goodbye to the Sound Tigers and their fans on Twitter, caught up with him a couple of minutes. “I’m looking forward to playing in Canada again,” he said. “It’s been since before my college experience, so that’s exciting. Two years in Bridgeport, I didn’t get to make the trip up to St. John’s, but from everything I’ve heard, it’s supposed to be a nice spot, passionate fans, filled every night.” He said he’s got an invite to Winnipeg’s camp, and though he admitted it’d have been nice to get another NHL deal, this contract takes care of him. “It’s going to be nice reuniting with (Kael) Mouillierat, too,” he said. “It’ll be good to have a familiar face.”

Meanwhile, Blake Geoffrion, like Ilya Kovalchuk, goes right back to work. Yeah, I wish he was playing, too, but he’ll scout for Columbus. (Ex-Nighthawk sighting therein.)
