Sound Tigers sign five

The Sound Tigers just announced five signings, some we’d heard, but probably most notably Justin Johnson, late of Manchester.

Johnson becomes the first of the likely Sound Tigers with over 200 pro games (293, in fact 317 — forgot playoffs), with 103 107 of those in the AHL for the Monarchs. Here’s a nice Dan Hickling piece on him from a couple of years ago. Didn’t get to play a lot last year but had over 180 PIM in a little over half a season’s worth twice before that.

They also announced they’ve re-signed Ben Rosen (successful ATO, then), and added defenseman Mathieu Gagnon, whose signing had trickled out on Twitter some time ago (surname listed as Coderre-Gagnon on the release, BTW); goalie Parker Milner, whom B.D. Gallof had at the draft; and defenseman Sean Escobedo, a Rosen teammate at Boston University. The latter four are on two-way AHL deals; Johnson is on a one-way.
