Light, dark, murk

Arena’s been talking this up for a while: a new lighting system in the barn this fall. They say better and cheaper. Meanwhile, Nassau Coliseum’s new operator is expected to be announced Thursday morning.

Sean Wiles, who had a few good games with Bridgeport the past season on a PTO up from Vegas, signed with Reading, which’ll put him even closer to more AHL teams. Adam Huxley, who also impressed in his call-up, returns to Vegas as a player/assistant coach.

Chad Costello, meanwhile, to the Central League (h/t Elite Prospects).

The Sound Tigers posted a video of their Top 10 goals of last season. Surely there’s a footnote somewhere that says not counting Jordan Hill in Hershey. But there are some good ones.

Southbury’s Chase Harwell appears off to the QMJHL to play with Sherbrooke. He had been a Quinnipiac recruit.

Jon Chik on Ben Prentiss, trainer to many local (and many non-local) NHLers.

The Barons have a livechat with Milford’s Mark Arcobello Thursday at 3 p.m. Eastern.

The answer is obviously ‘A’, but Leahy has a point: ‘B’ would be pretty hilarious, in an oh-my-gosh-that-happened kind of way.

Ken Levine meets Rose Marie.

And 10 years ago Wednesday, the Sound Tigers announced the signings of Scott Stirling and Kevin Colley to AHL contracts. I tracked Colley down in Toronto; if I recall correctly, he was just arriving somewhere and asked me to call back in an hour. I said sure. Two minutes later, my television faded to a line and then a dot like it was an old tube from the 1950s, and the lights dimmed for 10 seconds, and then they came back strong. Turned out my house was one of the few places in the East that still had power. Toronto didn’t. In an hour, it took three tries to get through to Kevin Colley. “It’s chaos here,” he said. T.O. wasn’t alone. The Ballpark at Harbor Yard also had power, though numerous traffic lights were blinking downtown. The Bridgeport Barrage played the last game of their season. Because they moved to Philadelphia a day before the NHL trade deadline the next spring, it turned out to be the last Bridgeport Barrage game ever. Some day.
