Wednesday’s 12, 6 and 2 (plus) (Updated: Martinek)

Bridgeport was almost down to a game roster Wednesday as Joe Finley remained out.

“He’s seeing the doctor again,” Scott Pellerin said. “It’s something minor that we have to make sure he’s 100 percent before he can get back on the ice.”

That left six defensemen to go with the 12 forwards, though Brett Gallant, still in a red no-contact jersey, gave it a good skate. Pellerin said they’ll see how he feels later today. Two more days of practice before Syracuse, anyway.

Stockton plays its second game tonight; Parker Milner gets the nod for his pro debut. Twitter follows, BTW, for Stockton, including writer Scott Linesburgh.

(You wanted to watch Kirill Kabanov’s, Mike Dalhuisen’s et al’s scraps from the other night, didn’t you? @IslesEnforcers has you covered.)

Edit, 3:45: The Islanders just announced a contract for Radek Martinek for the rest of the year. In the short term, that’s replacement for Lubomir Visnovsky (one hopes, for Visnovsky’s head’s sake, that it’s the short term, anyway). In the long term, if Visnovsky returns before anything else happens, that makes 24 men for a 23-man NHL roster.

Hartford’s goaltending is in some flux as Cam Talbot is starting and Jason Missiaen is backing up tomorrow for the Rangers against Philly. Scott Stajcer and Jeff Malcolm are in Hartford, as is Missiaen, at least on online paper at this writing. Hartford plays Portland tonight at the former Mall.

Mark Arcobello’s start puts him in some coincidentally elite company.

And just another plug that we’ve got Twitter and Facebook feeds that link to all blog posts and stories from the paper: @BSTSoundinOff and Soundin’ Off on Facebook.
