Ness up

The Islanders announced they’ve recalled Aaron Ness this morning. He could get his first NHL action since the spring of 2012 tonight in Raleigh.

Bridgeport, as mentioned, isn’t skating today. Scott Pellerin said earlier this week that if the Isles did call for someone, he expected a parallel move here as soon as possible to get back to seven defensemen and prepare for this three-in-three holiday weekend. Stockton is in Colorado, and Mike Dalhuisen scored his third goal of the year in the closing seconds last night to avoid a shutout.

Including the 2012 playoffs, Ness had played in Bridgeport’s last 91 games; that’s since the second-to-last game of the 2011-12 regular season in Wilkes-Barre, the night after the Sound Tigers clinched the division and the third seed, when both teams rested a bunch of regulars. He missed March 4, 2012, when the Islanders briefly called him up as a precaution; he missed five Bridgeport games that year, Feb. 11-20, when he was on recall. Those are the only Sound Tigers games he has not played since he showed up on his ATO from Minnesota.
