Status sorta quo: Friday practice

There was no call-up yet on defense for the Sound Tigers, at least not for the Sound Tigers; obviously, Aaron Ness remained gone after what sounded like a good return to the NHL. But they haven’t yet made a call-up from Stockton, which plays again tonight in Colorado.

So that leaves six defensemen, which works for tomorrow night in Hershey. Beyond that, we’ll see where they are.

Lines at the Wonderland of Ice were the same as Wednesday, and Scott Pellerin said it didn’t look good for a John Persson (upper body) appearance this weekend.

The Panthers fired Kevin Dineen and his staff this morning. San Antonio’s Peter Horachek takes over as Florida’s interim coach; didn’t see anything official, but Dan Weiss said it looks as if Chuck Weber will take over the Rampage again.

Nathan Lawson is back to Binghamton.

And so there’s a preseason Connecticut 6 all-star team. Not that I know basketball at all, but it appears to be the best player from each of the six teams (who play tomorrow in Bridgeport). I suspect we’re not that far away from college football teams no longer issuing a two-deep chart, but instead releasing a pregame all-team team.
