Former Sound Tigers centerman Mark Lee apparently played that game, then joined Ty Wishart in Germany. Meanwhile, Corey Trivino’s AHL debut has to wait because of the weather.
Ville Pokka and Finland won gold at the World Juniors, beating Sweden 3-2 in overtime. Russia beat Canada for bronze; Norway’s relegated. But hey, we’re No. 5.
Bridgeport’s next opponent, Manchester, got goalie Martin Jones back from L.A. now that Jonathan Quick is back in action. It’s a shame he didn’t play better up there. (.950 save percentage? Seriously.) Jonesless prescout in Hershey. Mathias Niederberger’s almost-36 minutes were the first for a ManchVegas goalie not named Berube since Jones last played on Nov. 9. Berube started 24 games in a row and was the only goalie in the first 23. (He got 207 seconds off for extra attackers in those 23 games. Must’ve felt good to sit down.) Of course, before that Jones had played 13 of the first 14. So it all evens out, or something like that.
