Keenan to Stockton: Tuesday notes

Bridgeport has sent Mike Keenan back to Stockton after scratching him the past two games. Would get you more, but was a touch under the weather (no pun intended) this morning and didn’t make the trip. They’ve got Marc Cantin coming back from suspension, for one, and Joe Finley will be back at some point here. Depending how things go with the Islanders over the next two weeks, it could be crowded on D, and toss in the wild card that Jake Newton seemed to play fine this weekend.

Of course, if we’ve learned anything in 13 years, it’s that things can change, especially on defense, in a blink.

(One bummer in that move: Keenan’s old high school, Catholic Memorial, plays Fairfield Prep at Wonderland tomorrow with his brother, Sean.)

Was told there wasn’t anything else drastically different on the ice today. Hopefully back tomorrow.

New Canaan’s Jack Downing was released from his Iowa PTO.

Russia established a hockey hall of fame. Its inaugural class had… 146 members. Making up for lost time. Meanwhile, via Sean Leahy in Puck Daddy, the IIHF plans to change that dislodged-net rule that cost the Russians a lead on Saturday.

Phil RT’d this nice story on Dan Kelly. Hard to believe he’s gone 25 years, and just how young he was when we lost him. Diametrically opposite, an amazing piece from the amazing Roger Angell on growing old. Two lives lived to the fullest in different quantities.
