Live From Broad Street: Adirondack pregame

Feb 22s are crazy. We’ll see.

They had a Villanova game here this afternoon and got the last pallets off for the changeover at 6:33 p.m. Finished flooding about four minutes before warmup. It’s not exactly frigid out there. We’ll see how the ice does. But whatever. It’s Philly. A big crowd’s expected. The Phantoms ran some neat nostalgic videos on the Philly Phantoms’ championships and highlights. Brian Smith and Brian Boucher are calling the game on TV.

Looks like the same lineup for Bridgeport, with one to scratch (that appears to be Jackson again). Carsen Chubak gets the start for Adirondack. I messed up their lines completely; apologies. (Getting old, and orange on white from this distance is tough. Apparently.) What’s below is my best guess at a reconstruction. I’ll try to correct if possible/necessary.

Started coming here in 2001-02, when the hole in the skyline about halfway here was fresh and sharply felt. Kept coming here until 2009, when there was more anger at what wasn’t there than anticipation for what was. There’s something there now, and it feels good.

Much more mundanely: Yes, it looks really weird here without the Spectrum.
