So the roster rotation remains on full spin. Missing today: Brock Montpetit, who’s going back to school, and Marc Cantin, going down to Stockton. Cantin had played just six of the past 15 games after his second suspension, and the arrival of Kyle Burroughs gives them another body on the blue line.
By the way, neglected to do the age-math: Burroughs, if said math was correct, became the youngest Sound Tiger ever on Tuesday. He’s a month and change younger than Alex O’Neil was when he debuted three years ago.
There was another addition (in addition to Jason Clark, back from Stockton as prophesied and indeed with 11 on his lid, though we’ll see if that changes at some point now that his 72 is open again, though they’re hitting the road for a few days here): Josh Holmstrom, UMass Lowell captain, on an amateur tryout. He skated with Clark and Dimitry Antipin. If Holmstrom plays Saturday, he could play against his brother, Ben, the captain of the Adirondack Phantoms. Josh Holmstrom got No. 8.
Victor Crus Rydberg got his first full practice in. He had the spot Brant Harris had on Tuesday, with Ryan Walters and Alan Quine. Harris took the spot Joel Broda had with Jesse Root and Chris Bruton.
So that’s nine 10 ATOs, 27 28 forwards here since the AHL trade deadline, and potentially a team-record-tying 62 players used this year, if and when Crus Rydberg and Holmstrom get in.
Quinnipiac’s Jones boys are off to Oklahoma City, on ATOs for the rest of the year and AHL contracts for next year.
Quebec City got next year’s Memorial Cup, which could be good news for North Branford’s Adam Erne.
