Less-than-magic numbers: Late Wednesday notes

Stockton added Mathieu Gagnon and Andrey Pedan to their roster, leaving one spot open for everybody else.

Adirondack beat Syracuse in a shootout, relegating Bridgeport to last place in the Northeast Division. (Adam Erne of North Branford scored his first pro goal for the Crunch.) Portland lost in a shootout to Albany (clinching a Devils playoff spot), so Bridgeport’s magic number to avoid last overall is one point. The Pirates finish Saturday against St. John’s in Saco. Bridgeport remains mathematically alive for 28th, but Iowa got a point in a shootout loss to Chicago, so Bridgeport at least needs to make up the three-point difference between the teams. (Former Islander Shane Harper had a goal and an assist and a bonus-round tally and was plus-3 for the Wolves. Actual former Sound Tiger Michael Davies had a goal.) The Wolves’ tweet says it’s John Anderson’s 700th regular-season win as a head coach in all his stops.

Norfolk beat Hershey in the first of those two games, so the Admirals are in the driver’s seat for that last Eastern Conference playoff spot.
