Lines from Langkow/Admirals win: Tuesday notes

Caught up with Chris Langkow tonight. “It’s definitely nice to know you have something for next year,” Langkow said. “It’s something to push yourself for. I’m really excited.” His first AHL contract to start a season.

It’s a spot where he’s comfortable, and familiarity with Brent Thompson also helps. “I got to know a lot of te guys last year, and I’ve played with Tommer a few times now,” Langkow said. “I know what kind of player he likes. I kind of know how to play for him. And we won a championship, too.”

About four months to training camp.

The playoffs keep going on, though. And it’s not over in the St. John’s-Norfolk series. Andre Petersson scored 50 seconds into an Andrew Gordon tripping minor in overtime, and Norfolk stayed alive with a Game 5 win at home. Kael Mouillierat had an assist on Eric O’Dell’s tying goal with 2:58 to go. Game 6 is back on the Rock on Friday. Grand Rapids kept itself in the series with a 5-2 home win over Texas. The Stars still lead 2-1.

Anders Nilsson made all of 13 saves to beat Norway 2-1 at the World Championship. It was Pekka Rinne shutting out Germany for Finland. Latvia beat Kazakhstan, and Denmark put Italy away late.

And RIP, Shirley Fischler.
