Adding Boyle: Thursday notes

|

Jaro Halak worked out for the Big Club. Thursday, they went at it again, sending a conditional draft pick to San Jose for veteran defenseman Dan Boyle. If they sign him, it’s more defensive depth, an older guy, obviously (37), but one who’s been a top player for a long time. If not, it’s a fifth rounder. (Or they trade his rights again.)

If we’ve learned anything along the way here, it’s that defensive depth ain’t a bad thing.

We’ve also learned something about veterans. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton re-upped one of theirs, Tom Kostopoulos, on their breakup day.

Pat Mikesch, onetime Beast of New Haven, is the new coach of Green Bay of the USHL.

The Brakettes open Friday night. Hoping to get over there a bit this summer; been too long.

And RIP, Don Zimmer, whose granddaughter Whitney Mollica, a former Brakette, got some of the genes.
