Notes from the past few days: Monday notes

A total bummer from a busy personnel day: Dave Baseggio has been promoted to assistant to the general manager in Anaheim. The bummer, obviously, isn’t in the well-earned promotion for a good guy. The bummer’s that he and family will be leaving the area. Bummer, man. But great news.

The Ducks were busy, too, with a few other moves, most notably here calling Norfolk coach Trent Yawney up to be an assistant coach.

Adirondack has its new coach: Ryan Huska, late of Kelowna (WHL). And as reported widely, Willie Desjardins leaves Texas for Vancouver.

More from the coaching carousel: David Cunniff, won’t be back with Worcester, but Roy Sommer returns as Sharks head coach.

This linked story happens to be the first place that I saw that Cristopher Nilstorp is leaving the Texas Stars to go back to Sweden. Ignore that his name’s misspelled and his former team is in the wrong city in the story. It happens. (Here’s the Lakers’ story for backup.) So the Texas Stars lose their coach and their Cup-winning goalie.

Toby Petersen announced his retirement at the Stars’ Calder Cup celebration. Meanwhile, St. John’s playoff run wasn’t cheap, Robin Short writes.

Did we mention before that Alex Vazzano was going to Ottawa rookie camp? Feels like we did, but just in case: Alex Vazzano is going to Ottawa rookie camp.

Holy Cross has named former UConn coach David Berard its new coach.

And RIP, Gerry Goffin.
