It’s been getting a little more widespread attention lately, but it’s basically the same as it has been. Dave Andrews has been pretty open about the fact it’s expected to happen.
I misspoke, yes it is the NHL’s desire to make this change. I have to research where I saw this recently.
More than has been reported? Not so much. There are many pieces still to come to the whole thing, but something is likely to go down by next summer. And it’s not the AHL’s desire; comes from the NHL teams.

Any word from the league on thier desire to move AHL teams closer to their NHL parent clubs. With teams like Manchester, Worcester and Portland quickly coming to mind, how would that change the AHL landscape. Or are they still in the planning stages? Thank you.
