Round 1 dealings: Friday notes

At No. 5, the Islanders picked character and offense, forward Michael Dal Colle. Saturday got a little less busy when Friday got a little busier: The Big Club traded its two second-rounders to Tampa Bay to get the 28th pick, and they took Joshua Ho-Sang, from quite the background. The two of them combined for 71 goals and 109 assists in the OHL this year. They’re both 18.

The Isles still have six picks on Saturday, though none scheduled until 65th overall now, five picks into the third round.

Meanwhile, a busy Friday for Vancouver, which among other things didn’t trade up for No. 1, but did get Farmington’s Nick Bonino in a package for Ryan Kesler.

Lane Lambert will indeed join Barry Trotz in Washington. Josh Cooper writes about how the Predators did the right thing by him and his wife, Andi.

And RIP, Norm Gosselin and Bobby Womack.
