Three up, one down: Tuesday notes

He cleared waivers at noon, and the Islanders announced soon after that they’ve sent Brett Gallant to Bridgeport. Banged up already, the Islanders recalled Andrey Pedan and Adam Pelech and re-signed Ross Johnston to a tryout.

Gary Bettman announced that the NHL Board of Governors approved the sale of the Islanders to Jonathan Ledecky and Scott Malkin, though, as Jim Baumbach notes, the deal isn’t actually finalized yet. (There’s no reason to compare this deal to other Islanders ownership adventures of the near and distant past, but that simple fact just seems kinda funny.) Here’s the NHL.com story, too. The Big Club won in Boston tonight, has Wednesday off (not the Bridgeport group, though: foreshadowing), then has back-to-back games, including Friday’s in Bridgeport.

Among today’s Former Sound Tigers on AHL Camp Lists, Yann Danis is on Manchester’s with Sean Backman. Don’t know if that’s a Danis tryout, but I didn’t see anything about a signing, so.

And Garry Brown on Springfield equipment manager Ralph Calvanese, on the verge of 3,000 games.
