Game Day: Friday into Saturday notes

Prescout! Overtime! #Pointsforall! And no three-on-three! The IceCaps lost in overtime in front of 10,527 at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center. David Pastrnak, who looked good in the exhibition game here a week ago, had a couple of assists and leads the Eastern Conference in scoring. Edit: Brendan McCarthy reports the loss of Peter Budaj and Jason Jaffray to injury for the IceCaps. Rochester’s Chad Ruhwedel leads the league (and defensemen) at 1-2-3. But that game got ugly at the end: Trevor Gillies went after William Carrier and got out of it with just an aggressor and a double-game misconduct for the instigator in the last five minutes. Presumably he’ll be out awhile longer. Edit: Here’s Kevin Oklobzija’s postgame blog post.

But it’s game day here. Some of the stuff we put together this week: Bits on the defense, forwards and goalies; and the annual look by positions and five questions.

Popped over to Sacred Heart’s practice this week to talk to them about how they wanted to turn past years’ strong finishes into a more consistent season. This year started Friday night with a 2-1 loss at Army.

And meant to put this in this morning: RIP, Jan Hooks.
