Catching up: Tuesday notes

Took Tuesday as a chance to catch up on the weekend with Brent Thompson, whose phone wasn’t working up there. He agreed they were a couple of good games for them; he liked the work ethic. I mentioned that Sunday’s seemed to be their best start. “The way we started the game is the way we need to play for 60 minutes,” Thompson said. “There was a little bit of human nature, just a little bit of let-up. … We did a great job defending. Our goaltending was very sound.”

Sebastian Collberg’s scratch Sunday was the most interesting lineup bit from the weekend, I thought. “Honestly, just a matter of getting everybody in playing,” Thompson said. “He’s playing good hockey. It was just an opportunity for him to watch one game.” So the six D staying constant: “They played a very solid game as a group of six,” Thompson said. “We came back with the same six.” He said he expects to get Adam Pelech into a game this weekend. Juggling eight defensemen can’t be easy.

Mike Halmo, apparently dealing with something hopefully minor, and Brett Gallant were the extras today, skating with visiting player-development man Marty Reasoner. Collberg and Colton Gillies flanked Johan Sundstrom.

Meanwhile, called Frontier tech support Monday night to let them know that the U-Verse MSG-HD channel had become a weirdly stretched SD signal. When someone finally picked up a half hour later, I was told, more or less, there are still bumps in the migration and be thankful you’ve got service. So there you go. (Discovered this morning that all my CBS DVR scheduled recordings weren’t working, either. Hiccups, hopefully.)
