Reinhart back in blue: Wednesday notes

Same crew as yesterday for Bridgeport; biggest change was Griffin Reinhart out of no-contact red, into regular-defenseman’s blue after yesterday’s hard practice. (Also the return of skills coach Bernie Cassell, always welcome.)

Rocco Grimaldi played a doubleheader Tuesday, starting San Antonio’s morning game against Oklahoma City, then joining the Florida Panthers in L.A. It’s been done in these leagues, but still. I remember Rick DiPietro backing up for both the Islanders and Sound Tigers on the same day 11 years ago this month; couldn’t remember if any of the guys shuttling up and down to the Island in 2007-08 had played two in one day, but it doesn’t appear so, unless I’m missing something. If I remember correctly, there were at least a couple who played in both the AHL and the UHL in the same day with Bridgeport and Danbury.

The NHL dumped its dry scrape after regulation as of this weekend. It’s sticking around in the AHL.

Comings and goings: Springfield released Mike Cornell from his PTO, but Peter Mannino and Corey Trivino signed PTOs with Portland.

Blair Jones was sent down to Allentown. Goal judges, be alert.

And best wishes to Pascal Dupuis, out six months with a pulmonary embolism.

Edit: The AHL announced its Hall of Fame class, including Bronco Horvath, Art Stratton, executive James C. Hendy, and Frederic Cassivi, who won two Calder Cups, including one in 2002 with Chicago against Bridgeport.
