Looking familiar/familiarity: Thursday notes

A rare week: All hands on deck, no big changes in-week, no crazy stuff going on. I sort of expect something crazy to happen sometime in the next 24 hours, just because it’s been too calm.

Sebastian Collberg and Griffin Reinhart both appear set to go.

We always wonder about carryover in games like this. Sometimes you expect a bloodbath and you get nothing. Asked Brett Gallant if he expected any carryover. “We’re going for two points. That’s our goal,” Gallant said. “We don’t think about (carryover). It’s getting two points.”

Though the instigator was rescinded, the statistical record remains as called. That means Gallant’s 34 penalty minutes from Sunday stand. Coincidentally, that’s exactly by how many he trails Eric Godard — 705-671 — for the team penalty-minutes record.

The UConn hockey schedule now does list the Notre Dame game on Jan. 18 at noon. Bridgeport-Syracuse follows at 3. The Huskies’ original schedule had their game at 2 before the AHL schedule came out.

Say what you will about plus/minus, but how crazy is it that Conor Allen was plus-4 last night… in a 5-4 loss?

Horrible stuff about Columbus’ Jack Johnson, family and bankruptcy.

And RIP, Jimmy Ruffin and Mike Nichols.
