Emotion, passion, effort: Springfield postgame

Pretty much. See you tomorrow.

……

Perspective: “We’re having trouble playing against those guys for whatever reason,” Colin McDonald said. “One thing I’ve learned in this league, because of all the games on the weekend, you can’t carry it into tomorrow. We’ve got to have short-term memory, watch what we need to and learn from it. You don’t want guys playing tight.”

Maybe the best news is they won’t see Springfield again until Feb. 27 (and 28, both here). Kerby Rychel probably wants a trade to Albany and then on to Syracuse in mid-January if he’s going to put up three points a night against these guys.

The start was rough. They got through the early PK well, and the third and fourth lines both had some good, energetic, get-pucks-to-the-net shifts. And then the Falcons scored twice in the last four minutes of the first, and — well, Bridgeport had some life in the back half of the second period, but though a bounce could’ve gotten them in it, Springfield never looked like it was breaking.

“We’ve got to learn,” Thompson said. “We’ve got to learn from some things when we win, we’ve definitely got to learn from mistakes when we lose. Structurally, I felt we were not in sync. Some people worked, some people didn’t. Our team’s not good enough to flip the switch.”

……

Two penalty shots in one Bridgeport game: One, Two. (Why did I just have “One” up the other day?)

Alan Quine’s scoring streak ends, as do Brett Gallant’s (not without effort: Ryan Pulock’s six shots were the only total by a Bridgeport guy higher than his three) and Chris Langkow’s. Kael Mouillierat’s rolls on to eight games. Pulock, meanwhile, has a goal in four games in a row. Don’t believe a Bridgeport defenseman has made it to five.

Pretty sure there was a fan who didn’t believe Bridgeport crossed the line onside once all night. Impressive commitment.

Prescout. Veteran defenseman Ian White signed a PTO with Providence and played, interestingly one of only two guys with zeroes across. (The other, after that weird plus-4 curiosity the other night: Conor Allen.)

Happened to glance over Stockton’s stats today (mostly was checking on Justin Johnson in Alaska; he’s got 49 PIM going into Friday, which just feels right). For the second time in a week: Plus/minus, say what you will about its flaws and all. But Peter Sivak is the only Thunder player who rates a positive coming into Friday, plus-3. Everybody else is between minus-1 (a guy who’s played one game) and minus-15 in 15 games. Mind kinda boggles a little.

Greg Mauldin is staying overseas. Found a home, it appears.

Neat stuff from Todd VanDerWerff, talking to Damon Lindelof about the first season of Lost. And as Alan Sepinwall writes, “now Netflix is saving canceled shows that haven’t even aired yet.”

And RIP, Dave Appell.
