Bast down: Thursday notes

Calling Peter Sivak up cut down on the number of spots open up front, and the Sound Tigers released Jason Bast from his PTO and sent him back to the ECHL this morning. “I was happy with him,” Brent Thompson said. “He generated some chances in Hershey. You can see he’s got a good shot, good speed. It was his first time being in the American League.”

Colton Gillies was back on the ice this morning and back in his usual spot. Thompson said John Persson skated in the morning; “he’s hopefully around the bend.” Certainly not tomorrow, though.

Nathan McIver played his 500th pro game last night, tweeted a certain ex-teammate. Another ex-Tiger stole the show: shutout for Yann Danis. Mat Clark scored his first goal in 60 AHL games and seven NHL games, since that overtime goal here almost 20 months ago.

Albany apparently won’t get Damien Brunner: on unconditional waivers. Bruce Boudreau told the media Ilya Bryzgalov could be up next week, so maybe Bridgeport doesn’t see him, but interestingly Dany Heatley’s name appears on the AHL transactions today as sent down for conditioning as well.

And the alma mater showed up at Rupp Arena last night. Fun while it lasted.
