Reinhart back, Halmo out: Wednesday notes

The New York Islanders’ reassignment of Griffin Reinhart back to Bridgeport — the Big Club has two spots open now after putting Michael Grabner back on IR, and Travis Hamonic and Johnny Boychuk both practiced today — came while the Sound Tigers were on the ice Wednesday. So, things there looked pretty much as they were Monday (minus the bag skate at the end). That included John Persson in red (“I look at it as day-to-day,” Brent Thompson said) but no Mike Halmo, who Thompson said was in New York getting that injury evaluated. He did not sound optimistic. “I know it’s a little bit longer than we initially expected,” Thompson said. “It’s disappointing. He’s a big piece of what was our top six, and he was starting to play with an edge. We need all the guys to have that.” He didn’t have even a ballpark timetable yet.

The team was getting shots for the mumps after practice. Going to write a little something for the paper. (Should’ve rolled up my sleeve, seen what happened…) It’s not quite yet easier to say who doesn’t have the mumps than who does at the next level. Let’s hope it stays there.

The sale of the Texas Stars got board approval.

The KHL’s woes with the struggles of the Ruble have gotten attention. (Mikko Koskinen reference therein)

The math checks out, as weird as it sounds to my ears: The Simpsons debuted 25 years ago today.

And RIP, David Garth.
