More tomorrow (and later): Tuesday notes

Loic Leduc, with 15 on his helmet, was in town and practicing with the Sound Tigers today. It was a lighter skate, to get them back in the mindset after a day off, Brent Thompson said. Tomorrow, then, probably a little harder. (Today was tough enough for some of us*.)

They’re awaiting results of an MRI on Ryan Pulock, Thompson said. Griffin Reinhart remains day-to-day, though he practiced.

All star teams come out this afternoon.

Colorado College in the house tonight.

Canada is back on top at the World Juniors after a 5-4 win over Russia in the final. Sam Reinhart, Griffin’s brother, winds up with the game-winner, though it made it 5-1 before the Russians came back. Ilya Sorokin, Islanders draft pick, came in after a couple of early goals. Slovakia took bronze over Isles pick Linus Soderstrom and Sweden. (We’re still No. 5. Second year in a row.)

Kyle Burroughs was traded in the WHL to Medicine Hat.

Discovered, in following some music links and videos down rabbit holes on the day off, that in the past year I’d missed the passings of both Joe Frazier, part of the Chad Mitchell Trio at its best, and Midge Paxton, one of the greatest muses in modern American popular music. RIP. And RIP, Allie Sherman.

And someday, remind me to tell you a Bess Myerson (RIP) story. Not now. But someday.
