Lamoureux coming: Tuesday notes

For the moment Tuesday morning at Wonderland, the Sound Tigers looked more or less as expected: With Matt Lashoff out after taking a high hit Sunday, status quo ante on defense (Lashoff isn’t expected to play this week, Brent Thompson said); the second and third lines in another assorted combination.

But there will be a new name in the mix tomorrow in Newark: As the Quad-City Times’ Bobby Metcalf reported, Mario Lamoureux is coming up to Bridgeport. He wasn’t here yet, but Thompson expects him to play tomorrow.

Lamoureux (of those Lamoureuxs, who’ve been all over hockey, men’s and women’s, of late) has 39 points in 34 games for the Mallards this year, 11th in the ECHL. (Was interested to see he’s second in the ECHL in scoring on the road with 23 points.) His arrival will likely give Johan Sundstrom and Scooter Vaughan an extra day’s rest for the weekend. “He’s supposed to be an edgy centerman,” Thompson said. “He works extremely hard, blocks shots, good on faceoffs.” Lamoureux played three games with Oklahoma City last year.

Elsewhere: Lukas Sutter was promoted from ECHL all-star alternate to ECHL all-star.

I always assume I’ll miss somebody with these, but locals spotted on the NHL Central Scouting Bureau midterm draft rankings include Westminster centerman John McDermott of Darien at 109, Gunnery defenseman McKay Flanagan of Ridgefield at 168 and Hotchkiss left winger William Somers of Greenwich at 206. Somewhat higher was Dylan Strome, “not chopped liver.”

And your routine postgame splenectomy for Mikkel Boedker.
