U-ti-ca: All-star notes/Lamoureux let go/notes

It became the highest-scoring all-star game in AHL history, a 14-12 win for the Western Conference, though remarkably it was 1-1 at 13:45 of the first. Aaron Ness was plus-2 twice; that evaporated in the West’s four-goal third period. He assisted on the first of Shane Prince’s three goals in the last 25 minutes.

Only two Eastern skaters didn’t get a point, though J.F. Berube got one. Charles Hudon of Hamilton (three goals and an assist) and Jacob Markstrom of Utica (18 shots-16 saves) were co-MVPs.

Back here in Bridgeport, Mario Lamoureux was released from his PTO. The Sound Tigers are scheduled to return to practice Thursday, logistics permitting (one would imagine, by then, but crazier things have happened).

The Islanders got back to practice without Kyle Okposo, out six to eight weeks.

The AHL isn’t tipping its west-coast plans yet, reports came from this morning’s State of the League address. Sure seems apparent it’s coming.

Darien’s Kevin Sullivan is now with Reading.

Alex Ovechkin did seem a little over-the-top in wanting a car at the all-star game, no? Had a sweet reason.

And RIP, Bill Monbouquette.
