Pacific arrives/Keenan secured: Wednesday notes

The next few days appear to be the days when the Pacific Division finally gets its formal announcement (tomorrow in San Jose with the five teams in attendance) and other pieces of the move become official. How some of those eastern markets reposition themselves, what it all ultimately means for other AHL markets (including Bridgeport, waiting on the Coliseum): Much still to be determined in the next few years. But finally, years after Patrick Williams first told us it was coming someday, the NHL is bringing its farm teams west under the AHL’s banner.

More immediately, we watched Mike Keenan last week in Newark on the ice preserving a lead at the end of the game. Rick Kowalsky had some nice things to say about Keenan and his recent play in the team’s story Wednesday as they announced he’s got an AHL deal there. He’d been on a PTO.

Sound Tigers get back to it tomorrow.
