‘Rat to the Show: Friday notes

The Islanders needed a forward with Mikhail Grabovski out indefinitely, and they called for Kael Mouillierat. Playing under his first NHL deal this year, he could make his NHL debut. “It’s well-deserved, well-earned, considering the course of his career,” Brent Thompson said. “He’s been one of our top forwards, one of our key players on the power play and a lot of time the second half of the season on the penalty kill, winning big draws. I feel it’s well-deserved.”

Carson McMillan is due to meet them in Hershey today, so it’s to be seen what the lines ultimately look like (Chris Langkow took Mouillierat’s spot this morning). Another addition will meet them there as well: Cam Reid, signing a PTO. Reid has played 68 career AHL games and has 47 points in 50 games for Reading (ECHL) this year, so he was down the block. Lukas Sutter is out, so Reid will restore a bit of forward depth.

Sebastian Collberg took contact today for the first time. Thompson wasn’t sure he’d be available this weekend.

Far afield, baseball means it this time: countdown timers between innings. Interesting to see how they stick to it. And no time for it, but now I kind of wanna play Strat-o-Matic. Baseball or hockey. (Of course I only have a couple of random seasons from the late 1980s, so.)

And RIP, Harris Wittels.
