That time of year: Stretch traded, Wednesday notes

C.J. Stretch, Brent Thompson said this morning, is a really nice player on a good team. When the Sound Tigers signed him, that’s what they were hoping to be. Oklahoma City’s leading the Western Conference; that’s what they are. They know Stretch well.

And they wanted him, and today, the Sound Tigers sent him back to OKC.

“They know he could put points up. He’s a solid utility player, third or fourth line,” Thompson said. “Even when he’s out of the lineup, he’s a great depth piece.

“I’m sad to see him go. I’m happy he gets a fresh start.”

The return is “future considerations.” History suggests that means nothing substantial.

Bridgeport also released Cam Reid from his PTO. Sebastian Collberg appears good to go. Lukas Sutter was back in regular colors, and they had 13 forwards, then, on the ice, plus Mike Halmo, still in red (“close,” Thompson said).

Thompson didn’t anticipate bringing in a seventh defenseman. He said he’s fine with having Scooter Vaughan as the first option if needed. They’ll likely keep Kevin Czuczman and Jesse Graham in Florida at least through the weekend (which would make them playoff-eligible).

Meanwhile, Kael Mouillierat — you know, guy who couldn’t get a job in 2012 — picked up his first two NHL points last night on the Island, including his first NHL goal. Nice to see. Eric Hornick had a few fun notes about Mouillierat’s points, with references to a few former Tigers of different eras. Interesting that Mouillierat’s No. 48 numbers came on the same night Oscar Lindberg somehow became the first Ranger to wear 48.

Here’s the Hershey side of brawl reaction from Tim Leone. (Here’s Bridgeport’s, if you missed it.)

Trumbull’s Alex Vazzano was the NCAA’s first star of the weekend for Sacred Heart. He was also Atlantic Hockey’s goalie of the week.

Sean Bergenheim to Minnesota.

Spent a buck-fifty or so yesterday at the Redbox on “Whiplash.” Best buck-fifty or so I spent in a while, if you haven’t seen it.

And from CNN, a baby born with amniotic sac intact. (Video may autoplay.) Dude.
