Conacher, Leggio traded

The Islanders have traded Cory Conacher to Vancouver for Dustin Jeffrey.

2:16 p.m.: Jeffrey was leading Utica in scoring with 17-24-41. No word if he’s coming here or up there yet. That’s two former WBS Penguins acquired by the Islanders today.

Meanwhile, David Leggio’s agent tweets that Leggio has been traded to Phoenix. Awaiting word on a return.

2:30 p.m.: It’s big forward/defenseman Mark Louis coming back from Phoenix for Leggio. He’s 1-14-15 with 349 PIM in 174 AHL games for the Pirates.

2:52 p.m.: Not that it’s the most important thing — well, hey, it’s not insignificant — but the late and lamented CapGeek numbers say that moving Conacher and Leggio will save money. The full-season savings would be about $500,000 if everyone was in the AHL (so pro-rated the rest of the year, and depending on where Jeffrey is; still waiting to hear for sure).

2:59 p.m.: Greenwich’s Cam Atkinson re-upped with Columbus for three years.

3:30 p.m.: Jeffrey is on the Bridgeport roster. He’s a fifth veteran (Lashoff, Carkner, McMillan, Gillies).

4:15 p.m.: Per the web site, Jeffrey wears No. 20; Louis wears his Portland No. 33. Meanwhile, Springfield broadcaster Andy Zilch notes that the Falcons get Rene Bourque and William Karlson in the James-Wisniewski-to-Anaheim deal.
