Captain hurting: Thursday notes

Was told Aaron Ness took a puck to the face in practice this morning and missed the rest to get medical attention. Brent Thompson didn’t have initial word as he left Wonderland this morning. Brett Gallant also remains out.

(That’s about all of practice I caught, unfortunately: Fun with leaky water heaters. UI told me they could only come in the morning. Sorry. If it makes you feel any better, now my dryer vent hose — the one the vent-cleaning guys said needed to be reattached, so they cut a hole in my ceiling to do it — fell out of the ceiling and I’ve got to fix that, too. Murphy’s Law already repeating itself.)

Speaking of guys named Murphy, Saturday is Sound Tigers Irish Night, with special jerseys (to be auctioned) and a happy hour at the Limerick. My Irish half kind of wishes they did this Sunday against the team that once almost wore an orange shamrock. My Italian half wants to know when they’re celebrating St. Joseph’s Day. (Both halves wonder what happens if the afternoon high school quarterfinals at the arena — Fairfield Prep-Greenwich at noon, Darien-Ridgefield to follow — go multiple overtime…)

From last night, Abbotsford — excuse me, Stockton — will be the Heat.
