Upper body, day-to-day (again): Thursday notes

Harry Zolnierczyk remained out Thursday, and Brent Thompson didn’t sound hopeful he’d be back for the weekend. He’s termed day-to-day (upper body). Brett Gallant has practiced the past couple of days, no-contact. Doubt he’s in this weekend, either.

Leni DiCostanzo remained in one net (and killed it at Rebound). Unfortunately for all our hopes of his starting Saturday, the Islanders returned Kevin Poulin to Bridgeport after practice. Ah well.

Most other things at Wonderland similar to the recent past, including chats about high school hockey. Masuk vs. E.O. Smith/Tolland on Saturday morning for the Division III championship; an all-FCIAC Division I final Saturday afternoon after Darien and Greenwich won last night (Darien-Xavier was a better game; Greenwich-Glastonbury, going to overtime, was probably more exciting from a fan perspective). Suffield/Granby/Windsor Locks and North Branford go tomorrow night in Division II, weather permitting (for crying out loud).

Bridgeport at Springfield tomorrow night, then home for Providence on Saturday, and Binghamton on Sunday with its lone appearance.

Report from Rochester that the Florida-to-Portland bit just starts a chain reaction of affiliation shuffles.

And RIP, Allen Jerkens.
