New guy in net: Thursday notes

Aside from the new goalie — C.J. Motte will get a start this weekend, Brent Thompson said, but he wasn’t committed to when — status quo for Bridgeport this morning. Brett Gallant’s status appears to depend on conditioning; seemed to be OK to go otherwise. Harry Zolnierczyk remains out; didn’t make the trip with them to Syracuse. Thompson said he didn’t envision Matt Carkner playing all three games this weekend, assuming he gets in at all; just trying to make sure he does OK coming back from surgery.

Justin Courtnall scored again last night for the Crunch.

Westport’s Mike Paliotta, his season done at Vermont, has yet to sign with Chicago; ESPN Chicago talks to the Hawks and his agent about the situation.

Former Fairfield Prep standout David White and Amherst are off to the Division III Frozen Four this weekend. They play Friday in the semis; the final is Saturday night. He’s leading his team in scoring as a freshman.

A friend’s fairly obsessed with this, so perhaps you’ll be, too: Remember how Jack Combs was in Allen (ECHL), went to Sweden, got waived in the ECHL, came back, wound up with Stockton? Seems like there’s some departer’s remorse: He has been back on waivers a couple of times over the past few days, winding up yesterday with Cincinnati.
