Pulock (and Pokka) named all-rookie

The AHL’s all-rookie team includes a Sound Tiger for the seventh time in 14 years: Ryan Pulock’s 17 goals helped earn him the honor, as the league announced today.

Pulock is joined on the team by Islanders draft pick Ville Pokka, who has 30 points and rates a plus-2 for Rockford. Pokka was technically assigned to the Sound Tigers for a few hours before the Nick Leddy trade, so if Bridgeport really wants to get greedy, it can say it monopolized the all-rookie defense slots.

Some guy named Matt Murray from Wilkes-Barre got the nod in goal, which may well start a cascade of honors for him over the next few days. The forwards all came from the Rumored Conference: Toronto’s Connor Brown, Milwaukee’s Viktor Arvidsson and Hamilton’s Charles Hudon.

The other all-rookie Sound Tigers: Wade Dubielewicz, 2003-04; Chris Campoli, 2004-05; Nathan Lawson, 2008-09; Rhett Rakhshani, 2010-11; Matt Donovan, 2011-12; and Ryan Strome, last year.
