Droughts/shots in elimination games: Monday notes

Peter Botte of the Daily News ran a bunch of numbers on the Islanders’ playoff drought and tweeted them this morning. Turns out their winless streak runs pretty close to their farm team’s.

Both streaks roll on. The Islanders put only 11 shots on Braden Holtby — only five years ago that their farm team put only seven on one Michal Neuvirth in an elimination game after beating Holtby three days earlier in Game 4 to stay alive — and were eliminated in Game 7 in Washington.

Night off in the AHL, but down in the Coast, Kevin Czuczman and Jesse Graham were both on the ice for their Everblades’ overtime goal in Florida’s 1-0 win over Orlando, winning the series in six games. An assortment of ex-Tigers in that series. Colorado, with Loic Leduc and Mark Nemec, has a chance to finish off Ontario tonight in Southern California; that game’s early on at this writing.

NBCSN will cover the World Championship again. Plans for at least five USA games to air live.

And RIP, legendary Marcel Pronovost.
