Leases in Albany/games elsewhere: Friday notes

Albany announced that one-year lease extension that’d been reported earlier. So now next summer seems big for the affiliates of all three tri-state teams. Let the games begin.

Hartford, the only one of those three teams actually still playing, twice built two-goal leads Friday night. And then Hershey scored four goals in a row, three in the second period, to take a 6-4 win in Game 2. The Bears lead the series 2-0 going to Worcester. Series tied at 1.

Alexandre Grenier scored 3:32 into overtime — booooring — to give Utica a split of the first two with Oklahoma City. Quinnipiac’s Jones brothers had combined on the OKC goal. And Grand Rapids took a 2-0 lead in their series with Rockford; two goals, an assist and nine shots for Teemu Pulkkinen.

In the Coast, Florida stayed alive again: Former Sound Tigers and UConn forward Brant Harris scored his second of the game at 21:20 of overtime to send the series back to Florida. That’s twice in three days that the Everblades, on the road and down 3-0 in the series, have won in multiple overtime to keep it alive. They’ll be home Monday and, if necessary, Tuesday.

At Worlds, the United States followed up the Belarus debacle with a Danish near-debacle, but Connor Hellebuyck made 21 saves, and Brock Nelson scored the only goal of the game on a wraparound in the second period, his fourth goal of the tournament. Other wins for Norway, Germany and the Czech Republic. The U.S. has the weekend off but finishes pool play Monday Sunday (Slovenia) and Tuesday (Slovakia).

Kind of a mess Friday night, eh?

And Atlas Obscura on the measles.
