Manchester claimed a 2-0 series lead tonight with a back-and-forth 7-4 win over Hartford in ManchVegas. The Monarchs led 2-0 early, but Hartford took a 3-2 lead 12 minutes into the second. By the end of the period, the Monarchs had a 5-3 lead — with two goals in the last 50 seconds, one of them Sean Backman’s second — and they added two more in the third (one a Nic Dowd deflection of a potential Backman hat trick).
Mackenzie Skapski made his pro playoff debut, taking the third in relief of Yann Danis, who’s taken the team this far. See what happens in Game 3 back in Hartford on Tuesday. Ryan Haggerty had a couple of assists for the Wolf Pack.

So Viacheslav Fetisov wants to keep Russian players home until they turn 28. Months ago, when a friend saw “Red Army,” she wrote to tell me she’d found it a “disappointing… slick biography of Putinist Minister of Sport, Slava Fetisov.” (I still haven’t seen it.) At any rate, she was much less surprised by this Fetisov news than most of the rest of my Twitter timeline.
