The scoring was done early, and Brandon DeFazio got the game-winner in Utica’s 2-1 win over Grand Rapids at home to start the Western Conference Final. The Comets scored 35 seconds into the game, and DeFazio made it 2-0 at 11:06. The Griffins got one back on a power play, but Jacob Markstrom made 25 saves to keep it from getting even. They play Game 2 Monday night at Utica.
