Drury back to NYR, littler Thompson to PC: Friday notes

A couple of things that accumulated over the past couple of days:

Chris Drury is back in hockey, joining the Rangers as their director of player development. Local guy and, one would think, a guy suited for that kind of role. The Rangers say he’ll work closely with the Wolf Pack.

Mark Divver reports that Tyce Thompson, Brent’s younger son, gave a verbal commitment to Providence College. Tyce’s older brother Tage starts at UConn, well, nowish.

Tom Gulitti says Chris Lamoriello has also left the Devils organization. Here’s Pete Dougherty’s post on it. Chris Lamoriello, Lou’s son, had been Albany’s GM.

The AHL’s latest outdoor game? In Sacramento. It’s a different world.

Islanders draft pick Ryan Pilon left his junior team; the Wheat Kings say he told them he’d lost his passion for the game. Good wishes to him.

Tip of cap to Rich Peverley, who’s retiring.

And a really nice Craig Custance story on Daniel Carcillo and Steve Montador.
