Back at it/Petrov/RIP, Yogi: Tuesday notes

Technically back to work Wednesday. Not sure how much Sound Tigering we’ll do in the short term, but anyway. Awaiting clarification on an apparent local addition to the Bridgeport staff. But the new AHL Guide and Record Book does mention a title — titles, actually — for another local, Zach Yannes, who’s been around this team in different roles since he was a kid: assistant athletic trainer and strength and conditioning coach. (The G&RB also has a nifty cover-photo choice, a Cup celebration shot that manages not to specify the team celebrating, since it moved to California.)

From afar still: Arthur Staple on a good first impression from Kirill Petrov.

John Tortorella will coach the national team at the World Cup, among other tournaments. I like our jam already.

Good stuff from Josh Cooper on Puck Daddy with Paul Bissonnette after Todd Ewen’s recent death. Also good stuff from Lindsay Kramer, who talked to three former Syracuse tough guys about it.

And sad news hitting overnight, though what a life he led: RIP, Yogi Berra, American hero, legendary ballplayer and all-around beloved guy.
