Bedeviled Berube: Albany postgame (updated)

Word from up there is J.F. Berube left this one with a lower-body injury after two periods. Was otherwise involved and haven’t heard anything more at the moment.

One goal in the last two games (Ryan Strome, who drew some morning skate attention in Brooklyn). Just 19 shots tonight; outshot 16-6 in the first, 28-11 through two. Again, no idea about the flow of that, but those were the numbers at least. Few real clinkers yet from this team; wonder if this was one.

Edit, 11:15: Whether Strome-related or not, the Isles sent Taylor Beck back to the Sound Tigers tonight.

Yann Danis’ goals-against is 1.91. Fourth in the league at this writing, or at least the last refresh. Not bad.

Joe Whitney’s scoring streak ended at seven games.

The power play drought is up to 25, getting close to top 10. But the PK remains hot, 67 for the last 71.

Not sure if we’ll hear any more on Berube by the next time I’ll catch up with them, Friday. In the meantime, if nothing hits: Happy Thanksgiving.

Edit: One other thing: The Calgary Sun’s Randy Sportak reported that Kevin Poulin had surgery on a dislocated kneecap. It looked like his right leg the other night; think it was his left that suffered the same injury in junior and as an Islanders rookie.
