Working toward the weekend: Thursday notes

Lots of special-teams work for the Sound Tigers at Wonderland today. Justin Vaive was back in his late-Sunday spot and, as usual, at the front of the net on the power play, so presumably he’s good to go. Lots of special-teams work this morning. As noted of late, the PK has been ridiculous, while the power play has not. Off to Springfield tomorrow

Thing to keep an eye on this weekend: Connor Jones’ PTO expires after Sunday’s game. There are obviously an assortment of ways to go with that, including a new one.

Missouri won its 13th in a row last night. Three goals, nine points, an 18-save shutout: All by NYI/BST contract guys. Jesse Root is ECHL Player of the Month for November: 8-9-17, plus-7 in 12 games.

Islanders equipment manager Scott Boggs worked his 1,500th game last night. Got a nice shoutout on NBCSN, too, which was pretty nice. (Heck of a game. Back and forth, intense, both teams showed up.)

Springfield got Craig Cunningham back from Phoenix today; Dustin Jeffrey remains up. Andrey Pedan went back to Utica yesterday. Manny Malhotra signed a PTO with Lake Erie today. Ex-Providence College goalie Jon Gillies is reportedly out for the year.

Fordham 73, St. John’s 57. So there is still good in the world.

And RIP, James Duplacey.
