Burroughs up, Leduc down: Wednesday notes

The other half of the Kyle Burroughs call-up? Loic Leduc was sent down to Missouri. If you had to guess, that probably would have been it: Leduc has played only six AHL games, and he hadn’t played in over three weeks.

“I just think Leduc needs to play,” Thompson said. “(The Mavericks are) playing three in three this weekend. We’re playing three in three. It’s an opportunity to see a young kid (Burroughs) who’s been playing very well. Duker did everything we asked. He played well defensively. He’s got a good stick. He’s making strides in the right direction. He needs to string some games together, get a lot of games.”

Burroughs was with Kevin Czuczman; Matt Carkner was mostly with Ryan Pulock, and Matt Finn with Jesse Graham. Thompson said he expects to play Burroughs with Czuczman but wasn’t going any further on the lineup. Friday’s a ways away, anyway.

Lines were as they finished Sunday, down to Jesse Root dressed in white along with Bracken Kearns, Joe Whitney and Sebastian Collberg. Alan Quine’s at least another week or two away, Thompson said.

Sam Gagner is now a Lehigh Valley Phantom. Wonder how far back you have to go to find an NHL team with a smaller payroll than Allentown’s. Sorry to see him (and Andrew MacDonald, et al) there, obviously, though it’s always exciting to see any son of a Nighthawk.

The Maple Leafs called up Mark Arcobello.

And I have to cover high school basketball tonight. I haven’t done it in a long time. Honestly can’t remember how I used to keep stats. This’ll be interesting. Follow and laugh along on Twitter if you want.
