Backman’s an all-star / D switch: Tuesday notes

The AHL announced its changes to the all-star rosters, and they add Sean Backman, ex-Sound Tiger, Greenwich’s own, to the Pacific Division crew. Backman’s leading Ontario at 10-21-31, a tiebreaker ahead of Nic Dowd.

Also announced as a replacement was Providence’s Alexander Khokhlachev, replacing Joe Whitney. Ryan Pulock is Bridgeport’s lone representative now.

The Sound Tigers got back to Harbor Yard with yet another change in personnel on defense, including yesterday’s swap with Missouri of Kane Lafranchise up and Jesse Graham down, plus the late-last-night addition of Scott Mayfield from the Islanders before the all-star break.

“Grahamer, we want to have him find his game,” Brent Thompson said. “It’s a little bit of confidence, a little bit of consistency. He’s been pressing too much on offense. He’ll be able to focus on his defense.”

Thompson talked about how good it has been for Bridgeport to have a strong team in Missouri. A good chunk of that team has now been through this room, too, including Lafranchise. “It’s been great,” Lafranchise said. “It’s the first time I’ve been on a team that dominant early on. Everything just clicked there.”

Could be some other stuff coming this afternoon. I assume it will all happen while my car’s in the shop. Edit: One has: Bryce Aneloski sent back to Missouri with the overcrowded defense.

Utica released West Haven’s Mike Pereira from his PTO.

Connor McDavid was assigned to Bakersfield as he comes back from injury. Unfortunately for the Condors, it’s just conditioning; he won’t play. (Amazing that his number was available.)
