Verhaeghe day-to-day: Friday notes

Possibly the first change to the forwards since the winning streak began: Carter Verhaeghe sat out practice; “lower-body soreness,” Brent Thompson said. He’s day-to-day. That could open the door for Sebastian Collberg, scratched in eight in a row and nine out of 10, or Connor Jones, out for the past seven.

The goalie swap complete, Stephon Williams was back in town, getting props from Thompson for his competitiveness in practice. It’s tough to see Parker Milner sent down after a performance in relief like Wednesday’s, but that’s the business. “Parker did what he was supposed to do,” Thompson said. “He worked hard in practice. He did his job.” He hadn’t played much with Berube here, then getting Gibson back in the swing of it. He’ll play a bit down there, Thompson said, as the Mavericks begin 11 games in 17 days tonight.

RestWatch goes in Bridgeport’s favor this weekend: Hartford hosts Wilkes-Barre tonight while the Sound Tigers are off. (The Pack have been off since Saturday while Bridgeport played Wednesday, but still.) Albany plays tonight, too, at Rochester, so the Devils will be finishing three-in-three on Sunday while Bridgeport goes back-to-back with travel.

A few days belatedly: Frolunda, with Johan Sundstrom, Robin Figren and Tom Nilsson, won the Champions Hockey League earlier this week.

A heck of an ex-Tiger on ex-Tiger matchup: Trevor Gillies and Mathieu Gagnon. (h/t Frank Seravalli.)

And gravitational waves holy cro.
